We're still under construction. Thanks for visiting!
The idea for Ready IRL germinated in the Tens (2010-2019) and developed further as we recognized a distinct lack of digital emergency preparedness tools and guided content for individuals and households. There are thousands of educational resources and websites on the topic of emergency preparedness and thousands of businesses offering readiness commodities (such as food storage) for exorbitant prices. There are also thousands of DIY readiness templates, all of which seem to dump everything on their users at once without giving them tools to track or encourage progress.Â
During the world-wide COVID-19 pandemic of 2020, it became starkly apparent that much of the world was unprepared. Not only were they unprepared for the pandemic itself, they were unprepared for the significant impact it caused to employment, supply chains, inflation, and the physical and emotional well-being of the world's citizens. We witnessed many examples of communities, institutions, and governments with deficient levels of disaster planning or delayed and ineffective responses.
The aftermath of the pandemic was worse, and worldwide events continue to severely impact everyone. The ever-heightening cost of living, the fear of the unknown, and the steady increase of unease among world populations are causing physical and mental tolls the likes of which the world has never known. Natural disasters are increasing in severity and frequency, as are wars and other global conflicts, and we expect more are on the way.
We saw a need for simplicity, for easily accessible content and training, and for affordable tools to help individuals and households track their readiness progress and become assets to their communities.
